Darshan Manjare (b. 1996) lives and works in Mumbai, India. Originally from Khidarpur, his work reflects the journey of agriculture—from the fields to the plate—capturing the hardships farmers endure, especially during natural calamities such as floods and droughts. Drawing from his family’s deep-rooted agricultural background, he portrays the resilience of both humans and animals through a rich color palette and textured compositions that convey both hope and despair. His use of terracotta and meticulous attention to visual detail lend authenticity to his work, which sensitively yet boldly addresses the struggles and overlooked narratives of farmers.

He completed his BFA in Fine Arts, a Diploma in Art Education, and an MFA in Painting at Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai. Darshan’s work has received national recognition for its inventiveness and social relevance. He continues to develop his practice in Mumbai, bringing the unseen realities of agricultural life into the public consciousness through his art. He has participated in a variety of group exhibitions including RIVERS AND ROAD: meandering stories of India, 2023 at AAIE Centre for Contemporary Art; ‘A Visual Loss-In Space, 2022 at Nine Fish Art Gallery, Mumbai. He was a part of the ‘Arthshila × Khoj’ Residency in 2022.
