Salik Ansari (b. 1991) lives and works in Mumbai, India. is an artist, designer and researcher with a focus on the concept of power, memory, politics of representation and displacement associated with land, water and internet. He employs research and a multi-disciplinary approach and the process often leads to development of installation, cutout paintings, objects, sculptures, and videos. His works have themes of socio-technological systems, abandoned objects, disappearance and labor movements.
He completed his BFA in Visual Arts - painting at Sir J J School of Arts, Mumbai (2014) and MDes Visual Communication at IDC School of Design at IIT, Mumbai (2017). He was a recipient of the Tata Fellowship for grassroots innovation and design at TCTD, MIT's sister lab at IIT Bombay (2015-2017).
Salik Ansari has been part of group shows of Strangers House Gallery, curated by TAK Contemporary, Mumbai (2024); Conflictorium, curated by V. Divakar, Ahmedabad (2023), Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai (2023) and India Art Fair, New Delhi (2023). He had his solo shows No Lines in the Sea, Fabrica Space via Garibaldi, Venice, Italy (2018) and Painting in Real, Kunst Zeug Haus, Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland (2014). He has been nominated for the Hublot design award, Switzerland 2017.
