Shubhankar Prakash Bharti (b. 1993) lives and works between France and India. His practice deeply engages with contemporary socio-political contexts, aiming to create political and social currency by actively challenging cultural and social power structures rather than merely representing them. His work fosters interaction and dialogue, often extending beyond the studio into public spaces.

Working across painting, sculpture, installation, and video projection, Bharti’s art lies at the intersection of fine art and social activism. His process integrates research, observation, and public interaction to reflect collective perspectives and foster artistic engagement. Through a blend of playful and unsettling imagery and text, he raises critical questions about societal divisions.

Bharti earned his Master’s degree in interdisciplinary art from École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Marseille and his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kala-Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan. His work has been exhibited in galleries across France and India, including international and national exhibitions at Le Palais de la Bourse, Marseille, and the Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata. In 2015, he was honored with the French Embassy-Krishnakriti Award.
