CECI N’EST PAS UN PAYSAGE.
Group show

In collaboration with Catharsis Gallery

09 - 25 April 2026

TAK Contemporary and Catharsis Art Gallery present Ceci n’est pas un paysage, a group exhibition bringing together thirteen modern and contemporary artists from South Asia and its diaspora.

Borrowing its linguistic tension from The Treachery of Images by René Magritte, Ceci n’est pas un paysage examines landscape beyond its image as mere representation. It questions the assumed neutrality of what is seen, proposing instead that landscape is never simply a representation, but a construct shaped by social inscriptions, political frameworks, diasporic memory, and psychological space it occupies.

What emerges across these practices is not a unified aesthetic, but a shared insistence on landscape as a produced condition. It is shaped through labour, belief, memory, and perception; never neutral, never fixed. The exhibition invites viewers to look beyond the image and its semantics and to treat it as something produced: through history, through movement, through rupture.
